Melisandre after the battle walks past the Winterfell walls
into the snow, lose her magical choker and dies. Why did she die ? She lived
all these years to fulfill the destiny of helping the Promised Prince who is
believed to end the darkness i.e kill the Night King. She plays her part, leaves
her magical choker and embraces death. Why leave magical choker? here is the
reason Melisandre is described as a character
a servant of the Lord of Light and is centuries old. She maintains her
youthfulness with magic.
As she removes her magical chokers she loses her youthfulness
and turns to a centuries old wrinkled woman. It is 'Carice van Houten' who
played the Melisandre character.
